Lets Go Running - Nathan's First Thoughts on The Mizuno Wave Sky 5

Nathan was our Mizuno Wear Test Winner who received a pair of the new Wave Sky 5s to test outside in the elements. Nathan has clocked up over 50km in the Wave Sky’s – have read of how his first 50km went.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS OUT OF THE BOX

On first inspection I am loving the styling of the Wave Sky 5 straight from the box. I am a big fan of Blue running shoes, and this multitone colourway is definitely working for me. The upper does not appear to be too over built either which is also a big tick in my books.

Really excited to get these on my feet.

ON THE FEET

They feel very snug on my feet, in a good way. There is a good amount of padding around the heel collar and the gusseted tongue has a solid feel about it too. I do feel like I'm standing pretty high on them, but that’s just a personal thing as I haven’t run in high stack height shoes in quite a while. Width wise, my foot has a good amount of movement in the toe box. Don’t think ill have any issue with hot spots or blistering.

Let's go running.

FIRST RUN

The stability was great no matter where I ran and I was completely confident with the grip on the outsole. I ran through gravel, sand, and grass (as well as concrete) and never had any issues with slipping. There were no hot spots anywhere either, which always brings a quiet little nod of appreciation.

I ended up doing 11k’s and was keen to keep going as the shoes were just getting better and better.

50Ks IN

The more I wear the Mizuno Wave Sky 5’s the more I enjoy wearing them. There was a little adjustment period at the beginning, but after a few more runs and tweaking them to my preference they are now my go to’s for any longer days or easy days out on the pavement. It's always a nice feeling to be able to just put on a quality pair of running shoes and know I'm good to go for as long as I want.

They are sturdy as anything too. It barely looks like they have come out of the box! I have every confidence that they will last me many hundreds of km’s in any conditions that I throw at them.

My feet are well looked after here.

OVERALL

I really enjoy wearing these shoes. I get that warm fuzzy feeling putting them on and have that piece of mind that the Mizuno Wave Sky 5’s will do a solid job every single time I step out the door.

Thank you to The Running Company Sunshine Coast & Mizuno for this fantastic prize.
