What motivates you to get out the door and run?

I think everyone has asked themselves that question a lot recently! I love competing and I enjoy the social side of running, and both of those aspects have taken a real hit right now. The motivation at this stage is to continue the forward momentum that had been building during preparation for the Autumn marathon season that never was. I want to be able to run PBs as soon as races are back!

 If you had the opportunity to do a run anywhere in the world, where would you run?

For a race I would probably pick one of the marathon majors like New York, London or Boston. But just for a run I would probably pick the French/Swiss alps. I love running there when we visit family in Europe and would love to explore more.

 When training, what is your favourite run session?


I like to vary my sessions so really don’t have a clear favourite. Perhaps a Mona Fartlek or 1km reps?


Your favourite running event? And why?

I’m going to list three as it’s hard to pick!

  • Sunshine Coast Half Marathon – Beautiful, fast course. Strong field and local!
  • Alpe D’Huez 21 - It’s 14km straight up the iconic Alpe D’Huez road climb with 1100m of elevation. When I ran it a couple of years ago there was still all the chalk on the road from the Tour de France stage. Cheap to enter, incredible scenery, very tough and close to my in-laws house!
  • Blackall 100km/50km – It’s a relatively young event but it has all the hallmarks of an event that will become iconic in Australian ultra running. It just has that vibe about it that gets you excited! It’s a tough race in typically tough conditions but the Run Queensland team and the support crews (Sunco Runco, Brisbane Trail Runners and the NUTRs typically) do a great job of making you feel awesome out there.
